Does this work with the QH1 update and I'm assuming this root will work for the purpose of me installing a custom rom?

Thanks, Maric

Yes, it works with QH1 too.

Root is for multiple purposes, we posted the procedure here because with root our app will be able to unlock the phone.

If you don't want to root then you can use the engineering bootloader procedure:

Hi, I tried posting in another one of the threads but I don't think it's checked anymore. When I flash my phone to the engineering boot it bootloops and never connects to the computer. it just shows galaxy s7 edge over and over. I copied the folder to my phones internal storage and have been trying to use root.bat even though it's not showing it's connected in hopes but it's still doing nothing. I was able to flash my phone to another .tar I found and used the root.bat and it was loading and said it was s7 edge custom but was not showing my phone was rooted in the app.

Please make sure to use the correct thread! The instructions and the Root_S7 files are different!
Use this thread and files for QAA and above ROMs.

What ROM does your device run?

Flash the stock ROM back in order to fix the bootloop, then repeat the root steps: https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=8.0

When you will flash the engineering bootloader the device will start to bootloop, so you have to make sure you follow all the required steps before to flash it (enable USB debug, install our app, open it at least once, copy the Root_S7 folder into the device), otherwise you won't be able to stop the bootloop.
See you ;-)

Quick question. Will the method work on G935PVPU5BQL1 firmware for the Sprint S7 Edge or am I screwed? I haven't been able to find a root that works on my firmware because it's binary 5 instead of 4 like it used to be. And I can't downgrade my firmware now.

No,

you need to use this method without root if your device is on QL1:

hey buddy... i have an old SPRINT phone that was flashed to T-MOBILE ROM.. I've rooted the phone and all, but when I insert any SIM card (except SPRINT), I get an INVALID SIM CARD error. I know the card works as I've tried it on another phone.. Can you help?

"Invalid SIM" means the device is SIM locked.

right, so all I need to do it purchase the unlock code and I'm set right? Reason I'm asking is that I don't get the prompt to enter the UNLOCK Code.

No, Sprint phones cannot be unlocked with the MSL neither with a Network Unlock Code, Sprint uses a different system in order to keep customers in their network, so we created our app specifically to unlock such phones, be aware that our app will needs root if your phone is updated over PD2 rom.

In order to unlock it please go here: https://idoneapps.com

We have our unlock app on the main page, select Android Services then please choose this one: "SAMSUNG | Multiple Carriers | SIM Unlock, Read MSL/SPC, Debrand, Enable Hotspot & Tethering App".

Price is $29.98, instructions are here: https://idoneapps.com/instructions.php#unlock_single

Included you will have Hotspot and tethering unlock, MSL read, debrand, Hands Free Activation removal and many other features.

The purchased license will last for all the phone lifetime and you will get all the future updates and goodies.
See you ;-)
