NOTE: This procedure won't root the phone, it's a FIX to achieve the unlock on S5 updated to PD3 or above.

If your phone is on a lower Software Version than PD3 then proceed to unlock directly. (Read this topic if you don't know how to read the Software Version).
Our app will recognize if your phone needs this fix and will notify you it with a pop-up, if you don't see any pop-up when the app starts then you don't need this fix or you already applied it.

While if it is on PD3 or higher rom then you need to root it or downgrade to PCA. To downgrade it just download the PCA rom from here:
SM-G900P Stock Official PCA (6.0.1) Click to Download

Then use these instructions to flash it: How to flash a stock official binary tar.md5 file

You will be able to update the phone again after the unlock, using either the OTA (Over the air) update or Odin3, the phone will remain unlocked.

Re: How to Unlock S5 SM-G900P PE1 (6.0.1) WITHOUT ROOT for Global GSM

I've never commented in any forum, ever; so please forgive me if I'm doing this wrong.  I have a G900P PE1, rooted.  I followed all the steps and did the PE1_FIX too.  It didn't work.  The sim is still locked.  I'm trying to us a Cricket sim (At&t towers).
After I saw that it didn't work, I decided to flash Cyanogenmod13.  Still nothing.  So then, I flashed back to my Sprint backup.  The idoneapps.com app shows the SIM State as "READY" but not "UNLOCKED".
How do I get it "sim unlocked" for USA GSM use?
Thanks

Ready means unlocked!

When a Sprint phone is locked you read a notification message that says "INVALID SIM", are you getting that?

No, it does not say that.  That went away after I flashed PE1_FIX.  The Cricket apn automatically created itself.  I checked it but it doesn't work.  When I try to make a call, there's a popup that says, "Mobile network not available".

Ok, then the phon is unlocked, you may just need to apply GCF Settings:

Try and let me know.

Update.  Apparently, with Cricket simply adding an apn isn't enough.  You have to wait several hours for them to send you several notifications.  Once you accept/install them, it works instantly.  Thanks for the help!

Hello.

I cannot get to GCF settings menu on my SM-G900P after unlock.  It's on Android 6.0 (G900PVPU3CPCA).

I've tried downgrading to the last version of Lollipop for this device but Odin will not flash it (Fails).

What am I missing here?

EDIT:  I also forgot to mention that the idoneapps.com app shows GCF Setting button in gray and it cannot be selected but the SIM State is 'Ready' (i.e., unlocked...)

Hello,

If your S5 is updated over PI0 then you cannot downgrade it anymore because Samsung added an anti-downgrade check.

About GCF Settings, is your phone rooted?
https://idoneapps.com/settings.php
If not then you will get the IOTHiddenMenu (Fig. 4), from it tap on TestMode Menu to open the Service Menu (Fig. 5).
See you ;-)

Hello and thank you for your reply.

The problem was that I couldn't reach the IOTHiddenMenu because the idoneapps app did not have a GCF settings option in the menu and the middle button at the bottom was not clickable. In the illustration on your link, it shows it selectable.

This is how I ended up getting to the IOTHiddenMenu:

I put phone into Airplane Mode and went to settings and selected "Activate this Device" and then pressed the Back Arrow.. Then I selected the 3 dots in the upper right hand corner and chose "PST" and then I got to the IOTHiddenMenu.

I'm not sure why I couldn't get there through your app. Very odd situation.

Thanks again,

-elc.

Hmmm there may be a problem with the license.
Please open the app, tap on the menu button then on "Send log file". We will check it out.
See you ;-)
