*Fix* S5 SM-G900P No data/internet after unlock.
« on: September 16, 2015, 09:39:07 AM »
Here we can talk about the few S5 that do not get data/internet after correctly setting up the APN after unlock.

If your phone have NO signal at all please check this thread instead:
https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=18.0
or this one:
https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=202.0

First of all check that you set up the right APN for your carrier, please check it here:
https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=23.0

This is a known issue that Sprint is yet to resolve even for customers they themselves have unlocked. On Sprint's Community forums the best they have done for any customer with this issue is swap the device out.

[EDIT] There are 3 software fixes:

1. NV RESTORE BACKUP:

From our app press GCF Setting Button.

Tap these options in the following order:

UE SETTING & INFO >
SETTING >
SYSTEM >
NV BACKUP TEST >
RESTORE BACKUP
(if you do not see this option open "Flash MODEM/CP" and select OA6 to flash) You may flash back your current/same version after completing the fix.

Then manually reboot.

Now unlock the phone again using our app.

Now set the APN and test data.

Do that procedure 2 or 3 times if the first one doesn't work.

2. Disable itsOn

If your phone is on Lollipop and the first solution is not applicable then open our app, then swipe the itsOn switch to turn it OFF.

Reboot and check data.

3. Twi5ted Lollipop ROM for Galaxy S5

If the above solutions are not applicable then follow these steps:

I can confirm this is a hardware issue. Had same issue, sent my phone in for service. They replaced several components, (got a whole new mainboard) and when I got it back, I now have GSM data working.

If you want to confirm you have the same issue, look at your radio logcat. Search for "DataCallResponse: {version=6 status=". The number after status should be 0 for a working data connection. I was previously getting 14.

Damn. Looks like I'm unlucky here. I'm getting status=14 in the radio logcat. Looks like this would explain why everything but data was working on Cricket.

can you provide the steps to check for hardware issue?

I have no clue where to look.
Could this be checked prior to domestic unlocking?
If so maybe idones can add a free check on the unlocking app so future people don't throwaway $35 down the drain.

Hi idonephi,

actually one of our customers found a software solution for this problem.

From our app press GCF Setting Button.

We had not the possibility to test it by ourselves, please let us know if it works by answering here please.

See you ;-)

This did it!

Thank you.

After doing NV steps, I rebooted and then received 'invalid sim' so I relaunch idoneapp and redid unlock process.
After phone auto rebooted 2x and setting up the apn I had data working!

Thank you. Sticky this please if it isn't already :) !

Credits goes to the customer that suggested it to us (can't remember who is now XD).

I'm very happy to read that a software solution exists, I'll sticky it asap!
Thanks a lot for reporting it back to us!

I'll just reply here, but unfortunately those steps didn't help me out. After selecting NV BACKUP TEST, all the menu says is NOT SUPPORT, not RESTORE BACKUP.

There are other ways to get NV back to stock, however it will require getting the info from someone.  It can be done via QCN file in QPST, or a couple other programs out there to write NV Data (NV Reader/Writer).

I actually had to do this on a Note 5 Sprint (maybe even the one that suggested this?).   Now I've been able to get LTE on Straight Talk (ATT) with some modifications.

Hi insanecain,

do you think you can explain the whole process here so the persons that doesn't have the RESTORE BACKUP menu item can fix their phones anyway?

Thanks a lot!
See you ;-)

xlogix, if you can get data on 3g then this isn't the right thread, your phone works fine!
Please check our FAQs, we wrote all there about LTE inside "Unlock" topic:
https://idoneapps.com/faq.php

If your new carrier support the bands of your phone then it's a wrong APN issue 100%, double check APN here:

Folks,
Please help. I have the same issue where the NV Backup Test is not supported. And I dont have internet via Wifi or Mobile Data.
I am running G900PVPU3BOG1_G900PSPT3BOG1_SPR.
What can I do. I have spent 3 days, flashing/reflashing/unlocking and getting incredibly frustrated. I even tried G900PVPU3BOK4_G900PSPT3BOK4_SPR with no success.
HELP!
