Title: How to Root S7 & S7 Edge SM-G930P & SM-G935P PH7 to PL6 (6.0.1) for Global GSM
Post by: idone on December 02, 2016, 11:15:30 AM
DISCLAMER: Rooting the device will void the phone warranty, by following these steps you accepting it.

NOTE: If your S7/S7 Edge has been updated to PH7, PJ2, PK1 or PL6 use directions below.

1.) Download Root_S7.zip from the bottom of this post, extract the files so that you have the folder Root_S7 with files inside it.
Make sure there is not a Root_S7 folder nested inside the first Root_S7 folder, it have to be like this: Root_S7\files.
Copy this folder to your phone internal storage and leave a copy on your PC also so you can run (double click) Root_S7.bat in the later step.
2.) Install unlock.apk version 1.80 or newer (it must be installed before proceeding), then open it once because it have to register the bootloop stop action.
To install the app navigate here from the phone: https://idoneapps.com/unlock.apk
3.) Go to Settings > About Device > and tap "Build Number" 7 times to enable "Developer Menu",
then enable "USB Debugging" and "OEM unlock" in the Developer Menu. Connect USB and more drivers may install.
4.) Power off the phone completely, now hold Home and Volume-(down), keep them pressed and power the phone on.
5.) Press Volume+(up) when prompted to enter "Downloading Mode"
6.) Connect USB and wait for all drivers to finish installing on PC.
7.) Download SM-G930x_Qxx_Engineering_BOOT.tar.md5 or SM-G935x_Qxx_Engineering_BOOT.tar.md5
Choose correct file for S7 (SM-G930) or S7 Edge (SM-G935).
8.) Open Odin3 (Run as administrator), then select the above tar.md5 file in "AP" slot, then pust START on Odin3, the file will be flashed.
When done the phone will begin to bootloop, this is normal, proceed with the following steps, the phone have to be connected to the PC.
9.) When you see the phone connected in Windows double click "Root_S7.bat that is inside Root_S7 folder that you extracted on your PC.
You should see a "Done!" message at the end of the command window.
If you don't see the "Done!" message then close the window and re-launch the bat, after that the phone will reboot automatically and it will be rooted.
It may take a couple tries due to the phone bootlooping, once successfull SuperSU will be installed.
10.) Open SuperSU app and go to its Settings > Access > and change it from "Prompt" to "Grant" (otherwise phone will reboot before SuperSU
has time to display a prompt to grant our unlock app root). After you have changed this setting the phone should only reboot 1 more time.
NOTE: If SuperSU prompts "update su binary" you need to run the Root_S7.bat again, and/also check that you have copied
Root_S7 folder with exact same name and location as the picture below.

11.) Proceed to unlocking, debranding, MSL read, Hotspot/Tethering etc. etc... Click for Instructions (https://idoneapps.com/instructions.php#unlock_single)

Have you passed to Odin the 4 files in the right slot?
It is very strange that the Start button is disabled, double check that the files are in the correct slot:

BL_G935PVPS4APK1_CL9053331_QB11389006_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 in BL
AP_G935PVPS4APK1_CL9053331_QB11389006_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 in AP
CP_G935PVPS4APK1_CL9053331_QB11389006_REV02_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.md5 in CP

Ah ok, then that's after you press start.
1. Reboot the computer.
2. Reboot the phone and put it in download mode.
3. Use another USB cable, that one may be damaged.
4. Connect the new USB cable to another USB port, wait for any driver to finish installing if you see the Windows driver bubble notification when you connect the phone.
5. Open Odin and retry.

restart your device to undo any unauthorized changes. Any idea??

Hmmm, that should be notified only once.

If you continue getting such message you can either flash the stock rom or download "System App Remover" from the store, then seach from Knox app and uninstall it.

Does this use a Magisk compatible systemless root?
Title: Re: PH7, PJ2 and PK1 Directions
Post by: Nodial on January 08, 2017, 03:49:48 PM
No, the systemless root is not enough to achieve the unlock on PD3 and above roms.

Post by: arusiasotto on January 08, 2017, 04:17:22 PM
Well, i will just have to pray suhide and root switch work then. Princess would be sad if I cant play pokemon go with her.

Also, is Unlock.apk needed if I just want root? I have no need to unlock my phone.
Title: Re: PH7, PJ2 and PK1 Directions
Post by: Nodial on January 08, 2017, 04:40:29 PM
Yes, our app is involved in this root procedure, it will avoid the bootloop that else would occur.

And one more thing...
When I am finished rooting, how do I unroot? Also, is it safe to uninstall "idoneapps.com" once I root?
Thanks!
Title: Re: PH7, PJ2 and PK1 Directions
Post by: Nodial on January 15, 2017, 10:56:48 AM
To unroot you can flash the stock rom or use the unroot function of SuperSU.
If you prefer to flash the stock rom use our repository: https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=8.0
About our app yes, you can uninstall it after the unlock, it won't be needed anymore unless you don't want to use the debranding functions.
To properly uninstall our app do it from its menu, tap on the menu button then tap on "Uninstall".

OK, great. Just one more thing before I stop asking questions (because I just thought of it),
It would be great if there were a video included after you folks posted about testing it on Nougat. Because I and many others appreciate having a video to go off and prove the functionality of the method. Also, I am not using GlobalGSM. I am using Sprint. But I assume it will still work, right? And, will the WiFi hotspot still work, and will my phone be activated already when I finish? Thanks!
P.S., I PROMISE this is the last thing I need to know. Thanks for your help!

About the vdeo proof since the owner of the S7 is idone I'm not sure if he will do it, anyway his instructions always worked ;-)

About Sprint yes, once unlocked the phone will work with any carrier of both CDMA and GSM networks, so Sprint included, just make sure to use the right network settings in:
Settings > Mobile Networks > Network Mode changing it to:
1. "GSM/UMTS" or "GSM/WCDMA auto" in order to use a GSM SIM (e.g. like AT&T or T-Mobile).
2. "LTE/CDMA" in order to use a CDMA SIM (e.g. like Verizon or Sprint).

Yes, but please use the one inside the Root_S7 folder and follow the instructions of the second post.
All the needed files are at the bottom of the second post.
You will use adb transparently calling the bat file.

If I disable the Knox package using Package Disabler Pro (Samsung) (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro), this should not be interrupted, correct?

I just finished rooting my S7 but I can't find GSM/CDMA under mobile networks, I've read the FAQ post but still doesn't work, reflashing it back to stock fixed it.

I use "System app remover" from the Play Store (it's free) and I also remove Knox, it works.

Hello. I just purchased the tether unlock and went through all the steps to root my S7 Edge. But, now I have no service. No phone, no internet. I have plenty of bars, so connection isn't the problem. And I keep getting a security prompt saying "Unauthorized actions have been detected".

Is this normal?

Please advise.

So I suppose that means that I must run the root batch file after the phone has finished booting up, and is on the attached screen?

I was able to get it to work using this method found on another site.

BuildProp Editor (easiest method)

Open Build.Prop with BuildProp Editor and change the following settings:

ro.cdma.default_numeric=310000 to 310120
ro.cdma.default_alpha=Chameleon to Sprint
ro.build.characteristics=Chameleon to Sprint

Make sure you grant root permissions when it asks. You may have to try this twice. Reboot and LTE should stick.

Friends I have a Galaxy S7 SM-930P Sprint PK1, but I always stay in step number 9, the phone always reboots and never lets me do anything, I have to use the firmware SM-G930P_1_20161103164841_qpep7x0d7y_fac.zip to return my phone to normal mode.

That I am doing wrong, if I do each of the steps in detail.

You have to make sure that our app is installed and that you follow the steps for the PK1 rom:
https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=301.msg1918#msg1918
then also make sure the Root_S7.zip is the one of the second post (it's different) and that its contents is unzipped in the phone internal SD Card.

The system could not find the file specified ???????

I have been able to perform all the steps, but I still restart because ?, I reach to your application and tells me that the device is successfully routed but does not stop restarting.

Stop restarting, and deleted SuperSu but I'm still root, is everything correct?

inside the internal SD Card ( /sdcard ) you need to copy the folder Root_S7, as explained in the intructions, the file that could not be found is this one:

/sdcard/Root_S7/SuperSU-v2.76.apk

this means that either the Root_S7 has not been copied in the internal sd card or the Root_S7 folder doesn't contains the SuperSU-v2.76.apk file

Please check all steps.
Title: Restore Former Advantages
Post by: Erkumsikt on January 19, 2017, 06:39:33 PM
Hello, friends, this is how you restore data, voice, text, speed up the phone, and fix the seven-day soft brick. (Credit to @colormedroid on XDA)

UPDATE 1/22/2017: There is a new file at https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3953907&d=1480533949 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=3953907&d=1480533949). It is another de-bloater package for you to flash after the first package.

1. Dial ##72786# and let the phone reboot.
2. Go to Setting > Activate this Device. It will say "writing to device".
3. When it finishes, DO NOT TAP "DONE". Instead, use a package disabler (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ospolice.packagedisablerpro)) to disable the following 3 packages:
        A. Samsung DM Service
        B. Samsung DM Phone Interface
        C. SecurityLogAgent
4. Tap "DONE", or reboot.
Voice and data are fixed!
UPDATE 1/25/2017: You may need to try this a few times.
5. Install FlashFire (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.flash (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.chainfire.flash))
6. Download the fix (http://bit.ly/2kJsEnU (http://bit.ly/2kJsEnU)) to your phone, but don't extract it.
7. Open FlashFire,  select "+", then tap "ZIP or OTA File".
8. Go to /sdcard/Downloads, and click on the file you downloaded.
9. Click "FLASH".
10. Once your phone reboots, go to Settings > Lock Screen and Security > Security Policy Updates and turn off "Automatic Updates" and "WiFi Only".
That's it!

Your phone should now be faster and get connections. Thank you for your time.

P.S., Thank you @colormedroid (XDA)!

You have to flash the PK1 stock rom, then you will be able to get the OTA update.

Ah, but when I download the update it does not show up in the cache partition.
UPDATE: OTAs are stored in /data/fota. The problem is that the package is seen as corrupt by FlashFire.

OK everyone, I seems like we have a problem. I upgraded to Android 7.0 (N) PLN firmware, but when I tried to root it, it began to bootloop. It looks like we need to modify the modified boot image to suit Nougat. If someone can find some way to install TWRP on an SM-G930P with Nougat, it will be possible. Until then!

Erkumsikt, you'd better restore the stock rom and let idone to experiment until he find a way to root the PLN rom. When done he'll open a new thread, this one is tested up to PK1.

Oh no, I've restored the stock ROM and tried a few times. I am pretty sure that with our current software, there is no way to root it on Nougat. What we need is a way to unlock the bootloader.

Your phone is rebooting to Download Mode as soon as you enter your PIN after flashing the Engineering bootloader?

You can reboot out of Download Mode by holding the Volume-(down) and Power button for approx 10 seconds.
If it still reboots to Download Mode again after that reflash PK1 Stock tar.md5 and remove your lock screen in Security settings on your device and try to root again.

Let us know if you have any issue.
Thanks.

ITs going into the screen with the lock and two lines circling it. I reflashed the stock rom and flashed the Engineering bootloader for S7 but now its getting stuck at the sprint LTE screen and doing short vibrations.

Ok, I suggest that you backup any data you want to save (via Samsung SmartSwitch, etc.)  Then do a factory reset. Install our app and open it once. Now make sure "OEM Unlock" and "USB Debugging" are enabled. Copy the Root_S7 folder to your phones storage and run the root.bat once just so you may get the "Accept USB Debugging" prompt on your phone. Check the ALWAYS Allow/Accept, now your phone should reboot from the root.bat.

Now power it off and into download mode, or if you are fast when it begins to reboot from above hold the Home and Volume-(down) button and it will boot right into download mode.

Flash the Engineering Bootloader, then right away run the root.bat again.
Hopefully all will be successful, if SuperSU app says "su binary needs update" and then fails run the root.bat again as some files just failed to copy.

Let us know.

Hello everyone,
I am getting pretty anxious to know when this will be available on Nougat PLN. Anyone else here in the Galaxy Beta Programme? You can root an SM-G930F on Nougat by flashing TWRP to the phone, and using TWRP to flash the SU binaries. However, this does not work on the Sprint variant because of its locked bootloader.
Also, I noticed that Marshmallow PL6 is out. Has anyone rooted it on this firmware?

PL6 can be downgraded to PK1. I would suggest a factory reset from recovery menu immediately after flashing it.

Root the current files in this thread may work fine to root PL6 though, if you try let us know, flashing stock can fix any issue caused by the rooting attempt ;)

some apps in my phone(banking apps and some games) is saying that my Galaxy S7 (SM-G930P PK1 baseband version) is rooted but it is not, at least I ran the root checker and it says that it is not rooted, what i know is that it is in a custom ROM because when it boots it show the padlock icon unlocked with the caption custom. I bought it pre owned in Craiglist and it is unlocked. what should I do to fix it? root and install root cloak or something? also i want to buy your services of activating the hostspot and wipe out the activation from sprint, rigt now i have disabled it with package disabler pro but i think that your method is better, is it?
best regards

Since you purchased it used I suggest you to install a stock rom and then factory reset it in order to have a clean phone.
Our stock rom repository is here, get the PK1 for the SM-G930P:

After that you can follow this guide to root it if you need.

Have you used our app to unlock the phone or just rooted it?

If your problem is just data/internet check the APN, what's the carrier you're using? The APN is the setting that allow you the get data/internet and have to be set to the carrier that you're using.

I think that if I downloaded the firmware and flashed it with FlashFire EverRoot, I would be on a custom binary, which wouldn't go over well with Qualcomm SecureBoot. Any ideas?

1)Boost
2)Boost's APN
3)Yes

Boost Mobile is CDMA like Sprint, so network settings have to be set to "LTE/CDMA".

Also Have you set GCF Settings to ON? For Boost Mobile those have to be OFF:
https://idoneapps.com/settings.php

Then please go in a Boost Mobile shop, they allow only whitelisted IMEI to be in their network, so you have to ask them to put your IMEI in their network in order for the phone to work with them.

Well, you'd better flash the stock firmware.
Are you sure you used the correct boot image?
If so, after flashing stock, firmware, ensure that OEM Unlock is enabled.
(You can use OEMUnlockRE or HASING if you are still having trouble)
UPDATE 2/9/2017: iPlus TechNet HASING is built into Android 6.0.1 PL6. Don't bother using OEMUnlockRE or HASING, they are already in effect.
UPDATE 2/11/2017: Root is even less likely to fail in PL6! The iPlus TechNet HRAL Plugin and Driver is a security and speed up feature that replaces various KNOX functionality components, and is way more lenient in hidden and systemless REMORED rooting (Provided by iPlus TechNet REMOREDRoot)! Thank you to everyone at iPlus TechNet! You give my life more purpose (iPlus TechNet PREPOSED)!!!! Thankspal thank!
UPDATE 2/12/2017: Amazing! BRUTUSROOT now exploits security vulnerabilities in your phone and ROOTS IT WITHOUT A PC!!! Use it! It controlled my device and stealed infos, but it workes owl! OWELTELLERONIROOT also work, but is not as fast.
Title: Installing Xposed Framework on SM-G93X-X
Post by: Erkumsikt on February 09, 2017, 08:25:25 PM
At the time of this writing, the latest Xposed version is Xposed 87.

NOTE: Doing this will cause our phone to lag! Maybe they will fix this soon. Who knows?

1. Install the Xposed Installer from http://bit.ly/2jkfBMf (http://bit.ly/2jkfBMf).
NOTE: Do NOT install Xposed from here! I believe that most/all models will end up in a soft brick!
2. Download Xposed 85.1 custom build by wanam from http://bit.ly/2k9FVFs (http://bit.ly/2k9FVFs), but don't extract.
3. Install FlashFire from http://bit.ly/1URHIuv (http://bit.ly/1URHIuv).
4. Open FlashFire, grant it root access, and select the '+' icon. Tap 'Flash ZIP or OTA'.
5. Navigate to this directory:
Code: [Select]
/sdcard/Downloads/and tap on the Xposed ZIP file.
6. Leave all the default settings alone, and tap 'OK'. Tap 'FLASH', then tap 'OK'.
7. Your phone will flash, then reboot. It may be stuck on the last boot screen ('LTE Plus' for Sprint) for a while. This is normal, your phone is just building a new dalvik cache. Then Android will have to relaunch. This will take longer, depending on how many apps you have.
8. When it reboots, launch the Xposed Installer. You can now update your framework to the latest version.

Congratulations! You've successfully installed the Xposed Framework.

LAG FIX: Install BuildProp Editor from http://bit.ly/1DNXLC8 (http://bit.ly/1DNXLC8). Change the value
Code: [Select]
ro.securestorage.support from 'true' to 'false'. Reboot. This may help, but not completely fix lag.

If you use Xposed Installer to uninstall the Xposed Framework, be sure to delete EVERYTHING in this directory:
Code: [Select]
/data/dalvik-cache/ afterwords. Then reboot.

If this soft bricked your phone, flash stock firmware and post your EXACT steps. I will see where you went wrong and help you.

If you have any questions or comments, be sure to tell me!

The superSU wouldnt install so I used a differ one from xda and it installed.
I have lag but used seeder to reduce it some.

I have MMs, Data, Voice & Wi-Fi all working. Just can't get Xposed so no hotspot working.

Also package disabler wouldn"t verify license and gave me trouble uninstalling. Had to use Titanium backup to freeze packages. Used TB to uninstall package disabler pro also.

No Evan,

the SM-G930T is a T-Mobile phone, you should use these instructions instead, the service is currently down, we will put it back online as soon it will be available:

I try to unlock my G930P.
The software version is PL6.
However, the new version idoneapps (v2.01?, v2.10?) did not work.
I saw repeated die message of some process.
Check it, please.

Is your phone running a custom rom?
Can you send us the log? From the app tap on the top right button, then tap on "Send log file".

Will this root work with software version QD2. I tried but when I got to the boot loop step it never reconnected to the computer so I could run the "Root_S7.bat". I had to reflash the stock version but would like some further guidance before I try again.

No Shane,

QD2 is Nougat, so the correct thread for it is following one:
https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=648.0

Please note that Nougat requires a different Root_S7.bat, so grab it from the above thread.

Yeah I am having a really hard time with the PL6 version with Virgin Mobile. Downloaded the custom PL6 rom from updato. Ran everything to the tee but it doesn't root. Run the .bat file twenty times and SuperSu still says I need to update the binaries. Made sure my adb/supersu/and boot files are in the phone storage as well. Only thing that looks slightly different is when I run command prompt and run the root.bat file typically it had a whole run down of the process but instead it just goes 1of4, 2, 3 ,4 etc then done.

Sorry for double post. But I am thinking of actually flashing the PH7 rom because I am messing up somewhere along the way with PL6. Found this method on the xda forums https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/how-to/nougat-qaa-marshmallow-pl6-marshmallow-t3573135/page2 (https://forum.xda-developers.com/sprint-galaxy-s7/how-to/nougat-qaa-marshmallow-pl6-marshmallow-t3573135/page2)about PL6 and it seems to be over complicated than doing it on PH7 hopefully it will work this time. I have only reset this phone 7 times now haha

I strongly suggest you to update to Nougat QD2, our ROM repository is here: https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=8.0

Then root it using these Nougat instructions, root is much stable on such rom: https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?board=10.0

i keep getting stuck after i run the Root_S7.bat it does say "done!" at the end and reboots my phone. However, when i open SuperSu it says,

"There is no SU binary installed, and SuperSU cannot install it.  This is a problem! If you just upgraded to Android 5.0, you need to manually re-root - consult the relevant forums for your device!"

I have re-ran the .bat file about 10 times now and still same thing. What can i do? im stuck :(

Try to upgrade to Nougat, then use the Nougat instructions and Root_S7 file.

Bought the app.
Firmware PK1, so I Needed to root it.
Used the Instructions from here. it worked, got Root.
Then used unlock app again, all seemed ok... the app did its magic.
The phone rebooted and... As soon as the launcher started, I got the "Unfortunately, the com.android.phone stopped", repeateadly.
And nothing I did worked.

So I Odined the PK1 again, tried the "SM-G930P Root - Updated 10/25/2016" version, with debloaters and fixes and etc...
Got root again, all good.
Tried the unlock app again, the magic again, the "Unfortunately, the com.android.phone stopped" again, and some lag as hell...

So, any idea what can be happening?
All phases are done ok, but the app cannot unlock...
I have a s7 930p...

Well, root on S7 is very unstable and causes issues, one is lag.
It seems root on Nougat is better, so please upgrade, you can grab the ROM from our repository:
https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=8.0

After the upgrade use these instructions to root and unlock:
https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=648.0

Otherwise, on Nougat you can even unlock without root, you just need the engineering bootloader:

Question: after sim unlocked, what can I do to lose this? Updates? Firmware change? Unroot? Re-stock?

The "unlock" was performed where exactly? :)

The unlock is performed during the app reboots and it's stored in the phone NV items, so it will last until you perform a NV Rebuild because such command reset all the NV Items.
You can upgrade, downgrade, root, un-root or factory reset the phone and the unlock will stay.
IF in the future you will need to perform an NV Rebuild then don't worry, the license will last for all the phone lifetime, you will be able to use the app again.

Hey, not sure if anyone still checks this. I started the steps, flashed the AP in ODIN and got the bootloop but my phone never connects to the computer during the bootloop. Am I doing something wrong?

Flash the stock ROM back in order to fix the bootloop, then repeat the root steps: https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=8.0

When you will flash the engineering bootloader the device will start to bootloop, so you have to make sure you follow all the required steps before to flash it (enable USB debug, install our app, open it at least once, copy the Root_S7 folder into the device), otherwise you won't be able to stop the bootloop.
