Frequently Asked Questions.

  • Unlock

    • Is the unlock for my Android phone permanent?

Factory reset, un-root, updating System Software, flashing customs ROMS won't re-lock your phone.
So, unlock is permanent unless you issue one of these 3 operations:

      1) If you dial ##scrtn#
      2) Issuing NV Rebuild from the Service Mode menu.
      3) Using "Profile Update" from update settings (if it succeeds).

By the way even if you need to issue one of the above commands don't worry, the unlock app license will last for all the phone lifetime, so you will be able to use it again if needed.
If you'll lose the zip license file you will be able to re-download it from your member area or by enabling Wi-Fi/3G internet data on your phone and opening our app, it will download the license automatically.
Your Member Area login is sent with the purchase email confirmation, by the way you can reset the password or set your preferred one if you wish.

    • My Android phone IMEI is blacklisted, will the unlock work on it?

If you live outside the United States once unlocked the phone will work regardless the fact it is financed or blacklisted.
While if you live in the United States please check your device IMEI here before to purchase:

      https://my.ringplus.net/registrations/new
      https://ting.com/byod

Our app will unlock the phone anyway, the problem is that your new carrier/provider will block it because of the IMEI tied to a lost/stolen/not paid phone.

Once unlocked you can try an AT&T or Cricket SIM, they very often don't block blacklisted/financed IMEI, so you can use the unlocked phone even domestically (by the way it’s not guaranteed that AT&T or Cricket will allow your IMEI to be used on their network, you have to try).
Else you can sell the phone oversea, it will work with no problem outside the United States because the IMEI database is different.

    • My Android phone is financed, will the unlock work on it?

If you live outside the United States once unlocked the phone will work regardless the fact it is financed or blacklisted.
While if you live in the United States please check your device IMEI here before to purchase:

      https://my.ringplus.net/registrations/new
      https://ting.com/byod

The message that will be shown if the phone is financed is the following one:
"This device has failed the Financial Eligibility Date (FED) check. Unfortunately, it cannot be registered at this time. Please contact your existing carrier to see if your device can be released."

Our app will unlock the phone anyway, the problem is that your new carrier may block it because of the IMEI tied to a phone not yet paid in full. You will be able to use the phone with any carrier as soon your phone will be paid in full.

Once unlocked you will be able to use a AT&T or a Cricket SIM, they don’t block financed IMEI, so you can use the unlocked phone even domestically.
Else you can sell the phone oversea, it will work with no problem outside the United States because the IMEI database is different.

    • My iPhone IMEI is blacklisted, will the unlock work on it?

If you live outside the United States once unlocked the phone will work regardless the fact it is financed or blacklisted.
While if you live in the United States please check your device IMEI here before to purchase:

      https://my.ringplus.net/registrations/new
      https://ting.com/byod

If your iPhone shows as blacklisted just use our service that covers blacklisted iPhones, but keep in mind that it will work both only internationally after the unlock.

    • My iPhone is financed, will the unlock work on it?

If you live outside the United States once unlocked the phone will work regardless the fact it is financed or blacklisted.
While if you live in the United States please check your device IMEI here before to purchase:

      https://my.ringplus.net/registrations/new
      https://ting.com/byod

The message that will be shown if the phone is financed is the following one:
"This device has failed the Financial Eligibility Date (FED) check. Unfortunately, it cannot be registered at this time. Please contact your existing carrier to see if your device can be released."

If your iPhone shows as financed just use our service that covers blacklisted/financed phones, it will work both domestically and internationally after the unlock.

Keep in mind that if the person that had the phone on loan/credit never pays it will become blacklisted, so you're required to fulfill the outstanding balance even if you unlock the phone and use another carrier.

    • Will LTE work on my Android unlocked phone?

Yes, if the carrier you're going to use does use one of the device LTE bands then you will get 4G LTE.

How to check the device LTE bands?
Those are all listed in the following site, open it then input your phone model (e.g. SM-G920P) and open the result:
      https://www.frequencycheck.com

Once you have the supported LTE bands of your phone you just need to check if your carrier does use one of them, if you don't know which bands your carrier uses then you can find it here:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks
      Or here:
      https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_LTE_networks_in_Europe
      Or by calling your carrier.

If your carrier uses one of the phone LTE bands then you will be able to have LTE, (by setting the proper APN, we have the most used listed here: https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=23.0) in the other cases sadly there is now way yet to have 4G LTE because enabling them all using an external software doesn't seem to work as probably it's a modem lacks.

If you are not lucky with the above check you can use below methods to tweak the LTE settings, these methods will work because are supported by the phone modem:

      MSL/SPC
Using the MSL you may tweak the LTE settings, such as band priority, enabling/disabling certain bands etc...
Open our app, note down the MSL/SPC code shown in the main page and then:
      1. Dial ##3282#
      2. Select "EDIT"
      3. Enter the phone MSL
      4. Select LTE, then tweak the settings like you prefer.

      GCF Settings
Using the Service Menu you may enable/disable certain bands:
Open our app, tap on GCF Settings, then:
      1. UE SETTING & INFO
      2. SETTING
      3. SYSTEM
      4. NEXT PAGE
      5. LTE BANDS ON/OFF
      6. Manage the bands as you prefer.

    • Is there any way to add LTE bands to my Android unlocked phone?

Yes, on XDA there is one thread with all the tools and the instructions needed to achieve the result:
      https://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/general/how-to-add-rf-lte-frequency-bands-to-t2886059

    • I successfully unlocked my phone, can I reinstall SuperSU now?

Yes, our app uninstalls SuperSU for security reasons, but it is fine to reinstall it after the unlock!

    • I don't see "GSM/UMTS" in Settings>Connections>Networks>Network Type/Mode.

Please first check that you have flashed one of the Roms from our support forums. If you still do not have the option available after unlocking please visit this thread for support:
      https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=14.0

    • What is the turnaround time for an unlock or other web services?

For the web services it depends on the service you need, we wrote the turnaround times in the related purchase box for each service.

For the services provided by our Android app the turnaround is instantaneous.

    • Will there be anything else that needs to be done on the iPhone after submitting the IMEI?

The process is automatic, after the unlock you will need only to insert the SIM with Wi-Fi internet connected, it will complete on its own.

In some cases the phone will need to be connected to iTunes and have a restore or update done on it. That is rarely needed though.

  • Purchase

    • I purchased the unlock service but my unlock phone data download doesn't start.

Have you used e-check or a similar solution to purchase?

It probably depends on the fact the payment isn't complete, if so our server won't create the unlock app license for your phone.

You've either to use another card, or, if payment status is pending, to wait until the payment successfully completes.

You should have received an automated email from our system that contains the useful links you may need to unlock your phone, one of those links is the one to retrieve the unlock app license for your phone, try to use it and let us know in case you need help.

    • I downloaded the zip file but when I press the unlock button nothing happens.

If you purchased from a PC then you have to manually move the imei.zip file downloaded at the checkout inside your phone internal sdcard root or download folder or make sure to enable Wi-Fi/3G data internet on your phone and open our app, it will download the license automatically.

The license contains your phone unlock data and it's needed by the unlock application to unlock your phone, without it the process won't start.

  • Payments

    • How can I pay?

Payments can be made via PayPal or BitPay.
We do not receive, process or store credit card numbers, once you have selected your services and proceeded to checkout you will be redirected to a secure PayPal or BitPay website.

    • Can I pay with my credit or debit card without a PayPal account?

Yes, PayPal allows customers to pay with their own credit or debit cards without the need to register an account.

Customers can enter their name, shipping address, credit card, email address, and phone number (Optional), after reviewing their information, they may choose to save their information by creating a PayPal account to make future transactions faster.

We uploaded two pictures that show how to do:
      1. How to pay without a PayPal account, step #1
      2. How to pay without a PayPal account, step #2

  • Root

    • Is rooted needed to unlock my phone?

No, SIM unlock works on not rooted (stock rom) phones up to PD2, so if it is PD2 or less then proceed to unlock directly:
      https://idoneapps.com/instructions.php#unlock_single

In order to check the rom version of your phone please read this post:
      https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?topic=147.0

If your phone is on PD3 or above you either need to downgrade it (to PD2 or less) or root it in order to SIM unlock it because Samsung added a protection on PD3+ roms. To downgrade or root your phone a PC with Windows is needed because Odin 3 requires that.

Since the downgrade solution works very fine if you don't want to root then follow these steps (you can upgrade back after the unlock!):
      https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?board=7.0

If you prefer to root instead then follow these steps:
      https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0

    • My phone isn't rooted, how can I root it?

We wrote a tutorial for each supported phone model, please visit this thread:

      https://idoneapps.com/forum/index.php?board=4.0

    • Can I un-root my device after the unlock?

Yes, you can remove root from your device after the unlock operation if you rooted it on that purpose, that won't re-lock your phone!

  • IMEI

    • How to check if my IMEI is clean?

You may check it from a browser using these services:

      https://my.ringplus.net/registrations/new
      https://ting.com/byod

A clean IMEI is not blacklisted not financed, you should see a green/successful message if it's clean.

    • Can my bad IMEI be cleaned?

      Yes, it's possible.

There are a lot of phone repair shops that does the IMEI repair job, we can't do that because we don't have the needed certificates.

  • Network Unlock Code

    • My phone ask for a Network Unlock Code, what should I do?

If your phone requires a Network Unlock Code when you insert a new SIM it means that is SIM locked and requires such code to be unlocked.

We haven't all kind of Network Unlock Code services listed on our site (the list is huge) yet but we can provide you such code anyway, just contact us and provide us the following details:

      1. Phone model
      2. Phone IMEI
      3. Carrier on which your phone is SIM locked

We will answer you as soon as we can.

  • SPC / MSL Code

    • What's this code?

The MSL/SPC code gives you access the advanced data programming menu that is accessed by dialing ##data# (##3282#).

It is also required if you use PC software to program the device such as DFS, CDMAWorkshop, QPST, QXDM, etc.

You mainly only need it when "flashing" the device to another CDMA provider. For unlocking and putting them on GSM providers it is not needed.

Using our unlock service you will also have the code saved on your phones internal storage/sdcard after the unlock.

NOTE: This code isn't needed to SIM unlock your phone (it isn't a Network Unlock Code), if you have to do that please purchase the SIM unlock service or contact us to ask for a Network Unlock Code, we can provide those even if we haven't the services published on our site.
